The Prize!

I got my player today. I am so happy and proud! I am going to a Brad Paisley concert and when I received the tickets, there was a coupon for 50 free songs. I know where they are going, I just have to decide on the songs. Sounds like fun!
We are looking forward to a family reunion. All 3 of our children are coming for a few days and we get to play with all 3 granddaughters at the same time. I get to be Mimi for a week! TTFN

#7 Fun & Games

Ah, my last blog for the course, but not for good! Happy Birthday to my sister, Mary Divine! Yes, that is her name, isn't it cool? Anyway, I want to wrap this up so I can start playing with my MP3 player. I worked on this lesson quite a while ago, but didn't write my blog. I peeked at dogster and catster but didn't stay long because I don't have a pet. Tonight I went out to Blufr and really enjoyed that. However, I was bluffed more than I was correct. I did learn a few facts though. I am not a beer or wine drinker and don't really enjoy spending time with games.

I looked up cross-stitching, but only found sites with patterns. Wait, I just looked up tea drinkers and found a very interest site. I'm not sure if it is learn 2.0, but I look forward to going back there because I do like tea. http://www.teamuse.com/article_010701.html

I have really enjoyed learning the many different things in this course and I plan to go through it again to absorb more. I want to be a lifetime learner. Thank you, OCLS!

#8 On-line Learning

Hello again! I can't believe it is July 8 already! I have really enjoyed this Learn 2.0 course. I would like to have a lot more time to devote to it though. When I go surfing on the net I get sidetracked very easily and time just flies. I like learning on-line and have shared ideas and favorite e-places with a few co-workers. We don't have the time to work on things together, though. Here at Herndon we are very busy and our off desk time is precious.
I could not have finished this course without the help of several here at work and I thank them deeply. I have also spent some time going through the course at home. It is quieter and there is only one other person waiting in line for the computer!
I am going out to my Flickr and post some pics of Herndon.

Back to #6

My favorite library technology is our on-line databases, especially the book club. I actually met Suzanne a few years ago at the Staff Day. She was great and even brought her famous chocolate chip cookies to share. I signed up for the club and have been enjoying it 5 minutes a day since then. Another favorite is the novelist database, which I love to teach to our patrons.

#9

I love music and enjoyed this weeks subjects. On liveplasma I entered Frankie Avalon and found an artist named Mark Dinning and enjoyed his voice. I looked at Emily Wallace's web

site and found her voice beautiful! When I compared liveplasma and Music Map, I noticed that the latter changes genres faster. It was amazing that I went from country to jazz to contempory Christian in 4 clicks!

As to digital rights, this is very confusing. I am used to taping something on the VCR or now the DVR and I think if it is just for my personal use it is OK to copy. But I shouldn't be able to sell the copies. I don't think the media rights should be unrestricted.
I am enjoying learning so many new things at learn 2.0. I am several weeks behind because I took a week vacation. I have been reading and learning but haven't had the time to put my answers on my blog. So I will start with #10 and go back and forward from there. I am looking forward to using my new MP3 player to listen to my favorite music and download and listen to books.

meez

I made a meez, but I still need to name her and get her some shoes. I will call her Tracy and she is a beach bum because I would like to be. Oh I watched the Tuesday stampede. Yes it looks just like Herndon on Tuesday morning. We have a DVD club that rushes in to look at the new releases, after they have switched titles outside of course!

Happy Birthday, Anne Marie

Today is Anne's 3rd Birthday. Seems like just yesterday! I learned how to make a draft last week and then how to find it and publish it. It was unfinished though. I always run out of time.

Be the change

This reminds me of a quote from Ghandi "Be the change you wish to see in the world". Wow! it sounds good but is not that easy. I looked at lonelygirl and was not impressed. I love movies and I am spoiled by good moviemakers. I am very disapointed by the actions and language on YouTube and in most of the new movies. I used to not watch R rated movies, but it is getting to the point now that I can't even stand PG 13! Unfortunately, there aren't too many G rated films. But I am getting off the subject of

I'm back, finally!

I've had trouble finding my Blog and doing week #3. But, PTL (Praise the Lord)! after help from several people, I found the RSS website and wikis and Grokker. On Grokker on looked up the history of the Kentucky Derby (my sport), very interesting. I signed up for RSS's about dogs, National Geographic nature, birding, daily quotes and a few others. I copied a great quote yesterday, but couldn't find my blog, so I'll have to look it up again. Practice makes perfect!!
I do have another though, "Smile, it increases your face value!"
Have a Happy, Mimi

Here we go

Howdy, All!
Well, here is my first message. I am Mimi to two of my lovely granddaughters, Anne and Allie. I love to talk about them so this blog will be wonderful for that reason. Anne is my daughter's daughter and Allie is my son's daughter. I have one more granddaughter, Shoshanna. I am Grandma to her. That's all for now.
